WHY I DO THIS WORK
I’ve been in too many rooms where everyone knew the capital decision mattered, but no one fully trusted the information underneath it.
Mark Orge
Founder & Managing Partner
My path into facilities and infrastructure started from the ground up—first on Arctic drill ships, then as a Red Seal flooring journeyman, building maintenance at an airline to eventually asset and facility management in a wide variety of industries from high-tech to healthcare across North America. I learned how assets actually operate before I learned how they appear in forecasts, contracts, and board presentations.
As my responsibilities grew, I kept seeing the same patterns. Leaders were being asked to make significant, long-term investment decisions using information that was fragmented, outdated, or built on assumptions no one had properly tested. What was missing was not another technical report. The specialists often understood their individual piece of the asset, but no one was connecting asset condition, operating performance, lifecycle cost, contractual obligations, and financial risk. That left the person accountable for the decision trying to reconcile competing information and defend a recommendation they were not fully confident in. I realized my value was in bringing those pieces together and making the real trade-offs visible.
Decision makers often choose to work fractionally because organizations do not always need another permanent executive or another large consulting team. They often need an experienced, independent person who can step into a difficult decision, ask the questions others are avoiding, and work across operational, technical, and financial boundaries. Fractional work lets me meet the organization’s needs when the requirement is real, and stay focused on the decision at hand. I can bring an outside perspective without losing sight of the practical realities inside the organization.
I show up prepared, ask direct questions, and take the time to understand how the asset and the organization really operate. I listen to the people closest to the work, but I do not accept assumptions simply because they have been repeated for years. You will always know what I think, what the evidence supports, and where uncertainty still exists. I do not bury difficult issues in jargon or hide behind a report. I work as a peer—calm, candid, practical, and focused on helping the right people have the right conversations.
what clients actually experience
If you are carrying complex capital decisions that are becoming harder to support with evidence-based data, I am happy to talk it through with you. We can look at what is creating the uncertainty and decide whether an outside perspective would help.
